MADE IN
altamura
In the heart of Altamura, Forno Di Gesù was born, an artisanal bakery that carries on the tradition of Apulian baked goods. Every day in our workshop we prepare bread, focaccias, biscuits, and specialties made with selected ingredients and slow processes. Today, alongside the historic bakery, we also offer an online shop for those who wish to purchase artisanal baked goods and authentic flavors of Altamura tradition.
SINCE 1934
Bakers for five generations
Uncle Luca, born in 1934, used to deliver bread on his bicycle to the prisoners of Camp 65. He baked it in a small oven where, in those years, homemade bread was baked. Wheat was considered a great treasure and was transported by carters to be milled in the city's many mills. In those days, every family had its own wheat storage and would take it to the mill for grinding approximately every two months.
DISCOVER DI GESÙ
Between history and tradition
We tell the story of Puglia as an authentic land, a place of hospitality, of historical and cultural traditions through a geometry of emotions and sensations inherent in its landscapes, art, and gastronomy.
DI GESÙ EXPERIENCE
Baker for a Day
Di Gesù Experience is a hands-on baking workshop at Forno Di Gesù in Altamura. During the activity, you'll discover the stages of bread and focaccia making and learn traditional baking techniques. Guided by our master bakers, you'll get your hands dirty shaping your own Pane di Altamura and a fragrant focaccia. At the end of the experience, you'll take home the products you prepared during the workshop, along with an authentic memory of Altamura's traditional bakeries.
